Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the situation arising from incessant rainfall across the Union Territory.
The Chief Minister directed officials to intensify relief efforts, clear waterlogged areas, ensure uninterrupted essential services, and conduct timely evacuations from vulnerable zones.
In a post on X, the CMO stated: “The Chief Minister chaired a meeting this morning to review the situation arising from incessant rains. He instructed the administration to strengthen ground response, safeguard essential services, and provide immediate relief where needed.”
Ministers Javed Rana and Satish Sharma briefed him on the situation in Jammu, while Sakina Itoo and Advisor Nasir Sogami updated on the conditions in Kashmir. Omar Abdullah also appealed to the public to follow official advisories and avoid vulnerable areas.
Several districts, including Rajouri, Doda, and Bhaderwah, are witnessing flood-like conditions due to swollen rivers. The Tawi, Jhelum, and Chenab rivers are flowing above normal levels, inundating homes in low-lying areas. Authorities remain on high alert as heavy rains continue.
